17th Annual Senior Expo Now Called the GO Show, this Tuesday at the DECC
Duluth, MN…..The 17th Annual Senior Expo now called the GO Show will be held at the DECC in Duluth this coming Tuesday, October 22nd, from 9 am to 2 pm. The annual expo draws thousands of attendees from throughout the region and features exhibitors, entertainment, seminars, and much more.
Over 100 businesses and organizations will fill the expo exhibit hall with information on everything to do with being or becoming a senior. The expo is filled with information and is presented in a fun and festive setting. Earlier this year the annual event was rebranded to the GO Show after being the Senior Expo for 16 years. “GO is an acronym for Getting Older” said Tracy Lundeen, expo producer, of the new name. “It’s a little more in tune with today’s seniors who are working and staying active much longer in many cases than seniors of previous generations.”
The focus will be on the older crowd early on before skewing toward the younger senior GO attendees in the afternoon. In the Benna Ford Pioneer Hall crowd favorites the Chmielewski Funtime Band will return for a 9:30AM performance and the expo will host the annual “Celebration of Centenarians,” recognizing area 100 year olds presented by the City of Duluth Senior Programs at 10AM. Rickey Lee will take the stage at 11AM followed by a performance by John Seguin at noon with Lake Superior Brewing sampling craft beer and root beer made in Duluth. Also in Pioneer will be exhibits, seating, senior friendly food and beverages. The Black River Bandits Cowboy Fast Draw will be conducting Fast Draw demonstrations throughout the day in full costume and there will be tour buses and other displays on hand.
This year’s seminars and presentations in the Split Rock Room include by Live Simply with Kim called “Downsize to the Right Size” and Jim Stukel of Tortoise & Hare Footware called “Walking on Ice” and a live pre-recording of Talk of the Town with Tracy Lundeen, a popular weekly Northland radio show.
Attendees will be excited to find more prizes at the GO Show this year, including a Grand Prize getaway for two to Roseville, complete with overnight accommodations at the Country Inn and Suites, a gift card for the Roseville Center, dinner and a private tour of Summit Brewing courtesy of the Roseville Visitors Association!
A limited number of free tickets are still available at Walgreen Pharmacy Departments in Duluth, Superior, Cloquet, Virginia and Hibbing as well as from Mediqwest in Superior, Big Daddy’s Burgers in Piedmont Heights and Benna Ford Roush in Superior. Tickets are $6 at the door.
